About

Word packsPosted by admin 2013-01-19 16:56
There are large differences in people's backgrounds and ability to spell. Some people are born in English speaking countries, others are not. Some people have been speaking and writing English for years, while others are just starting out. Some people working on their spelling are children, and some are adults. Some people are attending a course, and can use this as supplemental training, others just wish to get better and practice.

To meet the different needs of these situations, we have created a series of word packs, so that whatever your background, age and motivation, there will be something relevant for you. Take a moment to browse the categories, so you can find the perfect word pack for your needs.

Core packs

Word packsPosted by admin 2013-01-19 16:56
The CORE packs are based on the most common words in the English language. It is a great place to start if you are learning English, because it will consolidate your vocabulary at the same time as training your spelling. Each pack contains 750 words, so if you complete Core 1 and Core 2, you will be familiar with the 1500 most common English words.

The CORE packs have been created by collating a series of word frequency lists. These include written and spoken sources, and we have been careful in our selection to best reflect what we think is the most relevant and best reflects modern usage of English.

Native packs

Word packsPosted by admin 2013-01-19 16:55
The NATIVE packs have been created to follow the vocabulary and spelling development of a typical English speaking child, so that the packs will reflect the progress from the first words learned up to 9th grade spelling and vocabulary challenges.

The words used the word packs are the result of years of research and development by English expert and teacher Ann Fisher. Visit her website www.spelling-words-well.com for many great activities and worksheets to help improve spelling. The NATIVE packs in the app integrate seamlessly with this body of work, and so can easily be used together.
